Gov. Yates of Illinois

The undersigned citizens of Ripley. O. would very respectfully recommend to your consideration our old friend and acquaintance C. A. Shepherd Esq. of your State as we have known Mr. Shepherd almost from Boyhood we have no hesitency in Saying that we believe him in every way qualified to fill a place in the Paymaster department of the U.S. and would respectfully Solicit your influence in his behalf.
