The undersigned would most respectfully recommend acting 1st Sergeant John M. Daworth Co. "E" 52nd U.S. Colored Infantry, as fully competent and worthy of an appointment as Second Lieutenant in the United States Volunteer service.

Approved and respectfully forwarded I would earnestly reccomend Sergt Haworth for the position of 2nd Lieut in any organization that his Excellency may see fit to place him. the above Sergeant has been serving in my regt for the last 4 months with honor to himself and credit to his county. a position bestowed on him would never be regretted
