To his Excellancy Governor Yates

Sir

I wish to be informed if the order of the war department relating to enlistments, affects the new regiments lately forming, I have been suffering from a severe disease for the last nine months consequently I could not take an active part in putting down this wicked rebellion I am now fully recovered ready and willing to shed my blood for my Country's sake. If you don't feel at liberty to appoint me to a small office) if know myself you would never regret it) I will enlist as a private if recruiting is not entirely stopped I would prefer they Artillery or Sharpshooters Service

If recruiting is stopped perhaps your Exelency would appoint me to a situation about the Camps, such as Clerk

Please excuse my boldness in addressing you

Yours respectively R C Taylor

P.S. I can give good references if required R.C.T.
