Washington July 31 /61
Dear Sir Will you be kind enough to send me an order [illegible the illegible] for the amt of indemnity for Swamp land which is Six thousand one hundred and sixty eight dollars ($6168) for Clarke County. I have got the claim allowed and ordered to be paid in Treasure notes. I desire the order for I may get this mater attended to while I am here for if I should fail to get it through before I leave it will be neglected. Clarke is the County I reside in. Mr Howard [Huclon?] is the agent for the Co. If it is necessary for him he will come to Springfield as soon as I get him.
