Governor Yates

Dear Sir

Our object is writing to you is to get our Brother Jacob Kratzer discharged from the army who is in Co. F. 72 Regiment Ill Vol. We are poor folks and Mother is dead Father is old and has nearly lost his eye sight and is not able to work we need Jacob's help very much and know not what we shall do without it. Could you adopt any measure to procure his discharge and would you please to do so
